About Me

I am a disability activists, my life has been around promoting lives of persons with disabilities. I do beleive that individual attitudes and backgrounds of most people has lead to most of us being excluded. I am the currrent chairperson of the albinism assocition of Malwi and worked for the disability council in Malawi for more that 5 years.

As a persons with albinism i feel i can help to chnage these two barriers, i will always fight for others, parents, communities, policy makers all dont understand us yet they live with us, we are thier children, we are thier brothers, we are thier sister....why treating us differently, why isolating us, why excluding us...

This is what always drives me to keep on lobbying and advocating for an inclusive society and empowerment of us persons with disabilities and those aroung us.

Affiliations:

Iam the currect chairperson for the albinism association of Malawi.

Areas of professional interests and/or research:

Disability and development is my professional interest and i will be have to do disability related reserch that will inform policies, programmes. Evidence based inclusive programming.

About Me

I love kids and cooking for visitors. Kids are my mission in life and cooking is how I relax. My husband and "soul" sister followed me to Central Mexico after my doctoral program started volunteer activites in Central Mexico in 2005. We lived on the border of AZ/Sonora 1996-2008 when we moved our lives to an indigenous village called Cajones. All three of us agree that we have never been happier than we are among these loving, kind, respectful people. We rent about 3 acres with a tiny "campesino" home that we remodeled. We have window screens and a water heater, most of our neighbors do not. We have modest spaces for guests but kids to help with enormous hearts. My husband is a retired disabled Vietnam Vet and theater professor who teaches make-up with the local college theater groups. Jolene, my soul sister, is a retired missionary, active artist, and she runs the equine therapy program. I am still a working author and online counselor to make money to keep the charity work going. Our email is jzm@email.arizona.edu.
