About Me

I am a tenured professor in the department of special education at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. I teach both undergraduates and graduate students In courses in autism. Intellectual disabilities, instructional strategies and behavioral interventions. I earned my doctorate in special education from the University of Pittsburgh.

For 6 years I have traveled with SRU students to study abroad, including The Netherlands, Belgium. Greece, Spain, and Costa Rica. I have spent 4 weeks working with SRU student teachers in Mexico City each spring teaching at the American School.



Affiliations:

I am on the Professional Advisory Board for Learning Disabilities Association and have held this position for 5 years.

I am the faculty advisor for Lambda Sigma Honor Society on campus of SRU.

I belong to CEC and have been a member since 1983 .

I am writing about The Face of Inclusion Abroad: Policy, philosophy and Practice. I am also writing and researching on co-teaching as an effective model of instruction in inclusive classrooms.

My Names are Kenneth Kapalu Muzata. I am a lecturer in the department of Educational Psychology, Sociology and Special Education at the University of Zambia. I was born and raised In Nigeria and I relocated to the United States five years ago  for my graduate studies.

I am working at The National Agency of Special Needs Education and Schools in Sweden as an advisor. I have a long experince of Special education and as a school leader. I am specially interesting in how to realize invclusive schools as well as international exchange in the field of special education.

I have been in Tunisia where i made the field study to my master of first level. The thesis is about how Tunisia is approaching special eduaction and in what way it is inclusive.

My master of second level has the title Accessible Learning Environments for Cildren and Pupils, Teachers and School leaders. One way towards Inclusion. About Me

Currently, I am an Assistant Professor of Special Education at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey (IUSA). At  Stockton college,  I am responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in special education, developmental reading instruction, and research methods.

I completed my  Ph. D in Education from University of Delaware and have master’s degrees in Special Education and Elementary Education from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA and University of Scranton, Scranton, PA respectively.  

I have several years of teaching and research experience in the education field in various settings (i.e., special education classrooms, inclusive classrooms, etc.) in the United States and India.

 I have co-presented at national and international conferences and co-authored peer-reviewed journal articles on: enhancing read alouds for early learners by including systematic instruction in reading comprehension and vocabulary, and developing instruction in genre-specific reading comprehension strategy for struggling upper elementary and adolescent learners within the context of persuasive genre.

My research interests include: developing vocabulary and reading comprehension instruction for struggling readers, enhancing text-based discourse within the context of reading-writing instruction for students with language and learning difficulties, and developing curriculum in critical analysis of argumentative/persuasive text for school-age children with learning differences. In addition, I am interested in working with international community to work on core reading and writing skills for children with learning differences. Thus, I am very much interested in collaborating with international faculty to develop instrucitonal and assessment methods to address the needs of learners.
