Dr. Terry Cumming is a Senior Lecturer in Special Education for the School of Education at the University of New South Wales. She has earned her PhD and MEd in Special Education with an emphasis on emotional and behavioural disorders from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and her BSci in Special Education from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.
Her research interests include: the use of technology in the classroom, students with emotional and behavioural disorders, inclusive practices, social skills training, and positive behavioural interventions. As part of the School of Education's Special Education Research Group, Terry's current research is focused on using iPads to support individuals with disabilities. The group is currently conducting a study on using mobile technology to empower individuals with disabilities through the life span. They have also recently completed a study that examined using iPads to support adult women with intellectual disabilities to participate more fully as researchers themselves. She has published a book and several journal articles and presented her work at both national and international conferences. Prior to her university and research work, Dr. Cumming has many years experience as a special educator and behaviour mentor in the United States.
