Tolulope Eni-Olorunda - Nigeria

     Dr. Eni-Olorunda’s background in nursing, most especially her encounters with children with disabilities, was the drive behind her passion for her work with persons with special needs. After her Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Special Education (Intellectual Disabilities), she was appointed a lecturer in the Department of Special Education at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria where she taught courses on intellectual disability at the undergraduate and post graduate levels. She also supervised students’ projects and dissertations.

      Currently, she lectures at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, in the Department of Home Science and Management (Child Development and Family Studies Option). When she arrived there she found that special education was missing in the Undergraduate and Postgraduate curriculum so she introduced special education courses through the Curriculum Committee. Today, students are offered courses in Special Education focuses on developmental disabilities.

      In addition to her University teaching, Tolulope works a center that provides services to services to children with Down syndrome, autism, and learning disabilities. She supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students who are providing outreach services to homes and rehabilitation centers in behavior modification and vocational rehabilitation programmes.
