I would like to share several important updates regarding the Board of Directors and our conference in Bhutan.
First,
Dear IASE Membership:
Unfortunately, we have had a recent resignation from our Board of Directors which requires that we open up the President-Elect Board position. If any of you are interested in joining our current IASE leadership team, please communicate your interest in being considered for this important position. Please include your personal resume and a statement of interest including what you could contribute to our organization. You must be a current IASE member in good standing.
Please send your letter of interest and personal information to DanielRNM@comcast.net by November 12, 2025 so that the Board can select a candidate at our November 15th IASE Board meeting.
We have a wonderful group of individuals on the Board from throughout our international community, so from whatever country you reside please consider this opportunity to help IASE grow and continue to be the important organization that is has become.
If confirmed by the Board, this position would take immediate effect and you would be in this position until 12/26 at which time you would become the President in January 2027.
Section VI.2 Election and Term of Office. The officers of IASE shall be elected for two (2) year terms by mail in ballot. The Past President is the chair of the Nominations Committee. The slate is to be printed in the February Newsletter.
Section VI.5 Duties of President-Elect. The President-Elect shall chair and oversee the Conference planning committee for the biennial conference, oversee all activities related to the biennial conference, and assist in all other matters upon request of the President. The President-Elect shall have other powers and perform such other duties as may be prescribed by law, by the Articles of Incorporation, or by these by-laws, or as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors.
Job Descriptions and Responsibilities of the IASE Board of Directors and Leadership Team:
President-Elect:
Chair and oversee the conference planning committee in conjunction with the
Conference Steering Committee and all activities for the biennial conference.
Serve as the Program Chair for the biennial conference.
Submit conference updates and information to the Newsletter Editor for
publication in at least four (4) newsletters.
Submit conference updates and information to web master for placement on the
website.
Submit, in the Fall of a conference year of the non-conference year, a proposed
conference budget for approval by the Board.
Assist in matters upon request of the president.
Serves in lieu of President if President is unable to fulfill duties.
Second,
In regards to our 19th Biennial Conference of the International Association of Special Education at the Royal Thimphu College in Thimphu, Bhutan, we have received 161 submissions for conference presentations through our new software- EasyChair. Thank you all for your submissions. A team will begin to review all the submitted proposals and as you have created an account through https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=iase2026 you will be notified about official acceptance from this system by December 1, 2025.
Early Registration will be available something soon, please check our website for the latest details at iase.org.
If you are interested in supporting a local special educator in Bhutan to attend the conference please consider donating a Scholarship. You can do so on our website-Scholarships by April 15th, 2026.
