Sneak Peak Of Our Keynote Speakers

Dr. Edward  Bagandshwa is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics, Research and Consultancy at Sebastian Kolowa Memorial University (SEKOMU). He was appointed in 2014 by the President of Tanzania as the Chairperson for the National Advisory Council for the services of people with disabilities, a position he continues to hold. He has a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Dar es Salaam. He earned his PhD in Special Education from the University of Manchester and has done Post-Doctoral work also at the University of Manchester. At the age of 7 he lost his eye sight and since that time has been totally blind. He has held several positions at SEKOMU since arriving there in 2014. We are looking forward to his keynote presentation and participation at our upcoming  Conference in July.


Dr Yvonne Bui is a professor and chairperson of the Department of Special Education at San Francisco State University.  She is the Chairperson for Master Thesis and Doctoral Dissertations. She earned her doctorate from the University of Kansas in the area of Learning disabilities. She has received numerous funded grants, the most recent one for Project HELP (Preparing Higher Education Leadership Personnel for Faculty Careers in Special Education).  Professor Bui conducts a vast amount of research with a focus on: (1) exceptional learners; (2) teacher education; (3) cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds in inclusive settings; (4) differentiated instruction; and (5) educational Leadership.


She is the author/co-author of several books, including: How to write a master’s

thesis, (2018,2017,2013); Exceptional children in today’s schools: What teachers need to know (2017, 2009). In addition, Professor Bui has written over 200 articles and book chapters, made more than 500 presentations at professional conferences, organizations, and local school districts within her community.

 

Dr. Bui  has served as a volunteer consultant for the office of overseas schools in Rwanda; Abuja, Nigeria and the International School of Tanganyika, Tanzania. Her service to the global community spans from developing undergraduate online courses and curriculum for Jesuit Commons, Dzaleka Refugee Camp, Malawi; preparation of university teaching schedules for all General Education and Special Education courses for Sebastian Kolowa University, teaching three special education courses (Introduction to Special Needs Education, Introduction to Cognitive Disabilities, Research Methods in Special Education-total 600 students) at Sebastian Kolowa University College, Magamba Village, Tanga District,Tanzania;Touch Math for special education teachers at Msimbazi School for Students with Autism, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania and for teachers a the Rainbow School in Lushoto, Tanzania, and conducting workshops and service learning with K-8 school in Tacna, Peru;

 

It is no surprise to hear her say “ I am thrilled that I will be able to return to SEKOMU, a place and people that I hold close to my heart, after so many years.” We are excited that she will be coming back to SEKUMO.

Registration Overview 

Please register on or before February 1, 2019 to take advantage of the Early Bird registrant fee and save $150.00 USD. EXCEPTION: developing countries will have a $70.00 USD increase. Extra Gala dinner ticket will cost $22.00 US.Registration will continue through April 1, 2019 for presenters and May 1, 2019 for all conference delegates. You may register and pay on-line credit or debit,via e-mail or via postal mail.  An email confirmation will be send upon receipt and processing of your registration. PLEASE note that no credit cards will be accepted on-site at the conference.


Tanzanian Presenters and Participants


Tanzanian Conference registration fees includes: Opening Reception, three days of conference sessions with breaks and  lunches. After February 1, 2019, the fees will increase by $70.00 USD /160,000 TZS increase (Tanzanian Currency). All Gala tickets will be an extra $22.00 USD for all students and teachers. We are very pleased to welcome researchers and practitioners working in the school environment and from different parts of the world to join us for our 16th IASE Biennial  conference that will involve keynote speakers; paper presentations; symposium presentations; workshops; poster round-table  presentations; and site  visits.
